"I dunno what I'ma do man... I just don't know"
*scene opens at a buffalo wild wings back in early august 2010*
People milled around the bar casually. A UFC ppv was being played. Not an awfully busy night. Extremely uneventful. There wasn't alot of people there but still a decent number to where the staff didn't just stand around.
In the midst of this bar was one person. Make that two of relative importance. Most people would have aimed toward sitting in a corner somewhere but not him. He believed in hiding in plain sight. Being right under people's nose. His shades and yankee hat pulled down low helped people miss the fact that Alex Mason the GWA wrestler was sitting among them with his best friend (besides his now pregnant girlfriend, Sabrina) Slim. They had in fact came to this bar to talk about Sabrina's recent announcment.
"Not to get off topic but I still can't believe that this worked." Slim said while making a gesture to Alex's entire outfit. Alex shrugged nonchalantly. "And I love how you threw off that one guy." he continued. One man thought he had recognized Alex for who he was. Alex convinced the man that he wasn't adding "Wish I had that Mason kid's money though!" Alex took a sip of soda (he avoided alchohol) before he spoke. "Im always full of shit, Slim. It just comes in handy at times."
Slim chuckled a bit. After a bit of an awkward silence he cleared his throat and got back on topic. "Maybe this is a blessing in disguise. Maybe its time for you to settle down a bit." Slim could feel Alex's stare from behind the shades as the words came out of his mouth. "I'm 24 Slim. I dunno what you want from me but just because you're ready to settle down doesn't mean I am." Alex responded.
Slim had recently gotten engaged to his longtime girlfriend. "You said that when you were 23..." Slim responded. "6 of one half dozen of the other." Alex said with a dismissing wave. "Thats not how that saying works..." Slim said. "Thats not how your mother works..." Alex quipped. "See! Your jokes aren't making sense. You know I'm right!" Slim said. Alex shook his head and waved at a sexy lady across the room eying him.
"Be that as it may, Slim. You've got a steady job near home. And you guys are planning on buying a house. I'm a pro-wrestler. My job demands travel. How can I figuratively settle down if I can't do it physically?" he said. The Asian girl came strutting over as Slim spoke. "Either way, Ace. I think its important that this child grow up in a stable environment with you and Sabrina."
Alex looked down at the table. He thought about his child. His abusive mother, his borderline non-existent father. Being shlepped around New York City in the foster care system. The gang fights. The lonely nights. Alex had sworn one thing. That when he had kids if he stayed alive long enough to have them. They would live in a house with their mother and him and not have to worry about moving around.
He thought about this and nodded slowly in agreement as the woman spoke up. "Did you just say "Ace"?" she said. Slim looked up and panicked realizing that he may have blown their spot. "Ace? Nah nah. I said... Um... 'Mase' like...Mas...." Slim stopped his sentence short realizing what he was saying as Alex, glaring angrily, finished the sentence for him. "Like 'Mason'? Was that what you were shooting for Shakespere?"
The woman lit up with excitement. "Oh my God! That voice! It is you!!!" she said. Alex pulled her by the hand into her lap. He whispered in her ear. "Calm yo ass down and maybe we'll let you rock with us..." he said. She smiled and whispered back "I will... but not for free..." Alex rolled his eyes. "Whadda ya want?" he said sounding notably annoyed. "I want you...in a bed... tonight..." she said grinning seductively. Alex looked at her and let a grin creep across his face. "I've heard worst deals..." he said. "Thats it?"
The woman was now turnt around and facing Alex with her legs crossed and swinging on one side. "I love you, Mason. You're a wrestling diety. I watch all your matches. I've seen every ppv you performed in. I've got all your merchandise." Alex interrupted her "Even the 'property of someone better' boyshorts and the 'Ace' thong?" She nodded. "Those bastards told me we only sold like 7 of those!" he said. "Well I needed one for everyday of the week. Boyshorts during the week. Thong on the weekend." she said. "Classy. Maybe I can see you model it..."
"I'm still here guys..." Slim spoke up. "And thats my cock-blockin ass friend, Slim." Alex said. "You have a girlfriend, Alex..." Slim said in a sing songy tone. "Shes not here, Slim..." Alex said while mocking the tone. "I don't care about that." the woman said. "I just want you... Even if I gotta share you."
With that comment Alex stood up. "We out." He grabbed the woman by the hand and threw some money on the table. "Alex, cmon man." Slim said rushing to get ahead of him. "This is not how you're gonna build a stable life for your kids with their mother." Slim said. Alex stopped and placed a hand on Slim's shoulder. After a moment he spoke. "Slim, you're a good friend. No doubt about it. And I want you to know that I appreciate everything you do..." he leaned in and whispered the next part. "But right now I just need some pussy to get my head straight... Its been a few weeks."
Devotees will remember Alex's insatiable libido. It concerned Sabrina and probably was the reason she was pregnant now. "I know its wrong but... I just gotta, man." he continued. Slim looked at him for a moment than at the woman. "Aiight man. I trust you know what you're doing..." he said. "Don't I always?" Alex said with a smirk.
The three were walking outside. "Aiight Slim, I'll catch you-"
And that was it... Those were the last words Alex said to him that night. The men came out of nowhere. It happend so fast. Just.So.Damn.Fast.
Alex couldn't get any real offense in. He swung wildly as the 5 or 6 men attacked him. They had chains and brass knuckles. There was no chance. The woman ran away screaming. Slim was struck with a bat to the back and was knocked out.
Alex was on the floor coughing up blood. And thats when Mr. Smith, the crime lord Alex used to fight for reared his head. "I don't leave jobs undone, Alex. You'll never disrespect me again." Thats when the real punishment started. They held him down and smashes his knee with a bat. They threw his head through car windows. One man of impressive strength pressed Alex overhead and threw him with extreme prejudice into a brick wall. Alex rolled onto his stomach as he drifted in and out of consciousness. One of them wrapped a chain around his neck and chocked him until he blacked out.
They still weren't done...
They picked him up stomping kicking and spitting all the way and handed him to another guy. He stood on top of an explorer. He picked Alex up and slammed him on the roof in a pump-handle slam. The mounts dug into Alex's back and if he was fully conscious convinced that they had broken it. The windows cracked. And Alex lay there on his back. Arms extended. Choking on blood. His face swollen almost beyond recognition. Incapable of movement.
It was at this specific moment with all of 6 of his assailants and mister smith standing there that something in him awoken. Not a type of consciousness that science can explain. But one derived almost purely of rage. A stubborness in the face of death....
He was taking mental notes...
Alex began making a sound. A horrible one. It was a gurgling, the kind that a fresh cadaver would make. Mr. Smith patted his swollen face. The gurgle intensified. "There there, son. You're stubborn just like your old man... You're dead already. You just don't realize it."
Finally the gurgle evolved into words said merely at a hush. He concentrated with every syllable. "Im.....Dead..." he said. Mr. smith smiled and started to walk away "...For.....now...." the words made Smith freeze in his steps. Alex's voice was gaining a clarity that had to be demonic. "But..... when......I .......come.....back......"
The final part was growled with an unreal hate...
"......I'm bringing all of hell with me........." With that Alex collapsed...
